Summary
Viz One 8 introduces a rebuilt, orchestrated container backend architecture; making it much more flexible, scalable, and resilient, easier to deploy in any on-premises, cloud, or hybrid technology stack, and makes future upgrades much easier to undertake. It was released for Early Access to existing customers on the 25th February 2025, and is now available for new customers as of the 25th March 2025. Please speak to your Vizrt Account Manager about upgrading.
25th March 2025: New formats. New workflows. Cloud and hybrid tech stack. Remote productions. The media landscape is ever-evolving, and keeping pace can be a challenge when mission-critical systems – like media asset management – are difficult to update. The good news? The significant backend changes we’ve made in Viz One 8 will help you keep pace with these changes by making it much easier to upgrade, try out new functionality, and adapt to your workflows as needed, so you can better compete and thrive.

Say hello to “containers”
The major change in this release is that we’ve essentially rebuilt and repackaged the underlying architecture that Viz One runs on as a containerized application suite. We won’t lie – that was a BIG task!
Check out the new product video for Viz One that highlights some of the benefits of containerization here.
What is containerization – and why is it a big deal?
In short, containerization allows Viz One to be broken down into smaller, isolated components called “containers”, rather than one giant system. Each container is responsible for its specific service and can function, scale, and be updated independently. A tool called Kubernetes will be responsible for managing these containers.
We’ve oversimplified it, but this ultimately means that Viz One will become more modular, scalable, and resilient than ever before. With this release, Viz One addresses three critical areas for modern broadcasters — greater upgradeability, flexibility, and reliability—giving you the tools to reach new heights in performance, efficiency, and innovation.

Get away from major upgrade projects and keep pace with the industry
Upgrading systems as intricate and vital as Viz One can take significant time and effort; as a result, many customers only go through the process every 3-5 years, missing out on new functionality and workflow enhancements. Once you’ve upgraded to Viz One 8, future upgrades will be an incredibly simple process. And if you need to roll an update back, this is an easy process, too.

What does Viz One 8 offer broadcasters?
1. Greater upgradeability: get away from major upgrade projects and keep pace with the industry
The Challenge:
Many broadcasters face the burdens of upgrading complex systems, often waiting years between updates due to cost, downtime, and difficulty. This delay can result in missing out on critical features, security enhancements, and emerging technology trends.
The Viz One 8 solution:
The containerized architecture simplifies software upgrades by isolating individual components. After upgrading to Viz One 8, future updates can be deployed seamlessly in consistent, predictable environments with minimal downtime.
Broadcasters can keep their systems current without workforce disruptions, operating costs, or missed opportunities. Whether deploying the tools of the future for HDR, AI workflow integrations, or new global content standards, Viz One 8 will provide the platform you need to adapt effortlessly while remaining competitive.
- Update individual components without impacting the entire system.
- Automate upgrades for faster, reliable updates with reduced human intervention.
- Test and validate updates safely using blue-green or canary deployment methods.
- Roll back to a previous version instantly, if needed.

2. Greater flexibility: easy deployment on-premises, in the cloud, or on a hybrid tech stack
The Challenge:
Broadcasters often feel limited by inflexible systems that restrict deployment options and make adopting newer cloud-based infrastructures difficult.
The Viz One 8 Solution:
Whether operating on-premises, in the cloud, or hybrid environments, the flexibility of Viz One 8 enables broadcasters to choose an infrastructure that best suits their unique needs.
- Dynamically scale workflows—adjust capacity on-demand during major events or off-peak periods.
- Enable cost efficiency by scaling resources up or down with precision.
- Containerized applications use resources more efficiently, optimizing server utilization. This reduces operational costs and improves performance during content ingest, editing, and distribution.
- Unify your deployment across multiple infrastructure environments (hybrid, public cloud, or private servers).

3. Greater reliability: continuous performance without single points of failure
The Challenge:
Media asset workflows rely heavily on continuous uptime and consistent performance. Without containerization, when one module fails, it can compromise the entire system and create unnecessary downtime for system administrators.
The Viz One 8 solution:
The modular, self-healing nature of containers ensures a more reliable system. Each container operates independently, which means a failure in one component doesn’t impact the others. If a container experiences an issue, the Viz One orchestration will automatically replace it, keeping the entire system operational without affecting workflows.
- Greater system resilience with self-healing architecture.
- Continuous performance without single points of failure.
- Run multiple instances of critical components, so if one fails, the others can carry on
- Fewer headaches for system administrators managing mission-critical environments.
- Containers isolate processes, reducing the risk of cross-application interference or security vulnerabilities. This ensures broadcast assets remain secure, especially during collaborative workflows or remote access.
Built to evolve with your business
The broadcasting industry is constantly innovating, and Viz One 8 ensures your media management workflows are built to keep pace. From adopting AI-assisted workflows to supporting next-generation content standards like HDR, Viz One 8’s containerized architecture future-proofs your operations, enabling you to focus on what matters most—producing exceptional content.
Keep pace. Stay competitive. Scale seamlessly. With Viz One 8, the future of broadcast media asset management is here.
