Spain’s MEDIAPRO and their subsidiary company wTVision have been chosen to be the host TV broadcaster for what UEFA calls “the best European football league five years in a row”: LaLiga.
Currently, the audiovisual group covers and produces sixteen leagues around the world and also the men’s first and second league professional football (soccer) division of the Spanish League.
This responsibility comes with a lot of challenges, the main challenge being how to use the best solutions in the broadcast world to share the excitement of LaLiga’s matches.
“We need to take advantage of the technologies available, incorporate them, and our goal is really to create the best viewing experience for the football fans”

The main goal for MEDIAPRO and wTVision was to create the best and most innovative viewing experience for LaLiga fans.
Vizrt’s powerful real-time Viz Engine is easily compatible with third-party systems, allowing customers to create the workflow that suits their needs. wTVision’s FootballStats CG controls the Viz Engine and delivers all the game statistics in real-time.
“We believe that our fans all over the world want to watch the best football in the world, but also the most innovative TV broadcasting about football”

MEDIAPRO upgraded the way they share, produce, and broadcast the most significant moments of any match with advanced analysis produced using Viz Libero.
This solution gives them a quick and easy way to show what has happened in the last five seconds of an important play by graphically displaying speed, distance and player statistics.
“We decided to use Libero during the match transmission because we thought this is a perfect tool to permit our fans all over the world to understand more what has happened during the most important actions in every match. Its very high-level tool and very fast to create the clips to analyze all the action”

The most recent innovation has been to install a brand new, hybrid studio set adding to the real decoration a complementary AR second level floor and walls.
“The main goal was to create an illusion of space within a small but real set and distinguish the different programs between each other through lighting, colors and virtual video content,” said Òscar Lago Domínguez, MEDIAPRO.
wTVision uses Vizrt’s designer tool Viz Artist to design all the on-air and AR graphics, and to refine the design of the AR part of the set with textures, materials and lighting to give graphics a more realistic look and feel.
The 3D graphics objects with dynamic content gives MEDIAPRO the flexibility to add daily excitement and information to the show.
“In our opinion, AR is really a tremendous way to engage your viewers and on top of it, it allows us on daily basis to introduce new graphics, compelling graphics, eye-catching graphics with dynamic information,” said Willem van Breukelen, wTVision.
The use of analysis to add to the clarity of the match, plus AR graphics and the hybrid set gives MEDIAPRO an edge in informing fans and bringing them closer to the game.
