Johnson Health Tech Thailand produces fitness content using TriCaster® and NDI®
The Thailand-based fitness, wellness, and health leader is using technology from Vizrt to create high-quality video content.
Founded in 2005, but with origins in Taiwan reaching back to 1975, Johnson Health Tech Thailand is a multi-faceted business providing personalized exercise, diet, and nutrition plans, alongside its premium equipment to help achieve its customers’ fitness goals.
In 2023, the company remains focused on driving the evolution of fitness and wellness and continues to develop cutting-edge solutions that maximize health at all stages of life. Given their modern ideals, it’s unsurprising that the company also recognizes the importance of using the latest technologies to create compelling media content.
To this end, Johnson Health Tech Thailand recently launched a new Bangkok-based venture, JHT Fit Company, to shoot fitness videos for use on its equipment, including the recently launched Johnson@Mirror and Johnson@Cycle products.
Following the lead of the headquarters in Taiwan, it was determined that the Thai team would use a similar configuration of Vizrt equipment. At the heart of the infrastructure is a TriCaster® TC1 video production system – which enables the team to undertake extended shoots (sometimes lasting 8 hours per day) and deliver a range of on-demand video content, including some filmed using green screen technology.

Mr. Somdet Kanthang, Production Manager of Johnson Health Tech Thailand, explains: “We designed a studio to record fitness activities, [and] we do sound recording, lighting, live streaming, and video recording simultaneously. We chose the TriCaster TC1 because of its real-time keying capabilities. We can remove the green screen and use our own background design [as required].”
In addition to the TriCaster, JHT is also employing IP-based NDI® network technology to support a streamlined production process through capture and post-production. Combined with the TriCaster TC1, the result is a seamless workflow that constitutes “the best option if you want to reduce your production costs,” says Kanthang.
The powerful NDI workflow is enabled by several other solutions, including Viz Connect Solo video converters – which support video-over-IP with resolutions up to UHD 60p – and the NDI outputs incorporated into an Insta Playout system.
The installation process proceeded smoothly, and it didn’t take long for the JHT team to get up to speed on how to use the equipment, thanks to free online classes from the Viz University and guidance from locally based service provider InceptTech. And now that the new infrastructure is up-and-running, it’s clear that it’s also giving the company a strong commercial advantage.
Ms. Piyaporn Tubtimkuna, Marketing Director of Johnson Health Tech Thailand, remarks: “We have an edge over the competition in the fitness class business [with regard to] shooting videos with special effects. Working with the TriCaster and NDI makes it possible to import and export a wide variety of video and audio signals, while it’s also now so easy to broadcast live across different platforms.”
