Viz Media Porter™ is useful in production environments that require high-speed workflows, such as news production, where a wide range of user groups need to import material directly from their workstations and have the imported material rapidly available to other users.

As part of the upload process with Viz Media Porter™, metadata is added to clips that are being imported

Viz Media Porter™ allows for different metadata templates, or forms, that specify the information that can be entered as metadata. Users can choose which metadata form to use for each clip that is imported. When the material is imported, it is saved as an item in the Viz Ardome™ archive.

To facilitate the process of choosing which clips to import, Viz Media Porter™ can also be used to browse through clips that are on the devices attached to the workstation, or that are queued to be imported.

Viz Media Porter™ also allows users to create merged clips for importing. Merged clips consist of one or more clips from the source device - these are used, for example, for importing spanning clips.
