Viz Curious Maps 9.0 features a new world database that includes 1st level administrative regions for the whole world as well as 2nd level regions for selected countries. The list of disputed regions was updated to include the latest political developments. A new Natural Earth option with a resolution of 150m/pixel is also available and provides a good compromise between resolution and price.

Viz Curious Maps Server now supports load balancing and server redundancy. Multiple map servers can be used simultaneously (sharing a single host or running across multiple computers) to enhance performance. In a setup consisting of multiple servers, any one server can be stopped and other servers will automatically pick up its tasks.

The rendering capabilities of Viz Curious Maps have been enhanced. Regions, borders, coastlines and streets, as well as lines that were added in the map client can be rendered in real time. All objects along the lines can be animated (route tracing).

The new auto-labeling feature allows users to automatically place map labels such as places and events on newly created maps.
